SIRSA: Police resorted to mild lathicharge on students of Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) and Government National College, when they blocked the national highway no 10 on Tuesday over Monday’s molestaion incident. A dismissed cop, Mahesh Bhadu, had allegedly molested a management student in an inebriated state on Monday. But he managed to escape when students rushed there on hearing her cries.
Security personnel failed to nab the culprit, who has been accused of such incidents earlier too.
University registrar VS Nehra got a formal complaint registered with the police. Sources claimed police raided various places last night, but all in vain.On Tuesday morning, students decided to boycott classes and take to streets. Raising slogans hundreds of boys and girls blocked traffic on the Barnala road. To disperse the protesters, police resorted to mild lathicharge. They then again assembled in front of the National College. Within minutes, college students also joined them and blocked traffic in front of the bus stand. This led to long queues of vehicles on the NH-10. They agreed to lift the blockade when ASP Sajjan Singh action within 24 hours.
